I have been tentatively recommending your website to friends.
Though it is somewhat intimidating I think it is useful. After my
experiences recently however I will be strongly recommending against
using your site. I think you are extremely unethical and manipulative.
I was very disappointed to find out that once my membership ends I
am unable to access even basic things like messages I have already
exchanged with people and other information e.g. pictures of my matches.
You are basically greedy and manipulative and I think that reflects
very poorly given the "ethical" image you are trying to cultivate.
I won't be recommending you I will not be paying for further service.

Yours sincerely
Darren.

They want me to be "motivated" = "pay them more money".

We believe it is important for both parties in a match to have the same amount
of investment. We want everyone to be motivated to respond and work through eHarmony's four stages of guided
communication. For this reason, we require that individuals be paying members before they can continue to
communicate with matches or retrieve previous communication. We don't want to create a situation where users are
just waiting for someone to communicate with them so they can proceed without paying. We understand how
that might be okay for finding a date, but eHarmony is about something more serious.

We believe that this policy treats everyone in eHarmony equally and gives everyone incentive to move forward in
their search for the love of their life.

Sincerely,

Michael S.

I make a perfectly reasonable counterproposal :)

You completely miss my point. I have paid, I have met someone, we have shown
commitment and talked though all four phases and now you are withholding all
of that information
unless I pay on a montly basis indefinitely. I can't even see the email I've
written! That's not "showing commitment" - that's just extortion. Eharmony
is not about something "more serious", it's just about money - that's all you
care about. I would like a one day free extension so I can gracefully end my
association with your website please,

Darren.

No reading my own conversations till I fork out more money ;(

Dear Darren,

Unfortunately, I am still not able to issue free time. I realize you may be
displeased with my response, but I do hope that you will continue to use your
eHarmony account and allow the process to work for you. If you need
anything at all, please let me know.

If you have any additional questions or comments, please visit us on the web

Sincerely,

Michael S.

Before I worked here I read Dr. Warren's book Finding the Love of Your Life. And I listen to his latest book Love the Life You Live on my iPod. I think he is very insightful. You will truly enjoy the journey in knowing yourself better and what you want from life and a relationship.
